Non-reversible long term deterioration in air flow through the lungs caused by damage to lung tissue.

Chronic shortness of breath
Cough
Sputum production
Wheeze
Recurrent respiratory infection

how to diagnose copd?
A
Clinical presentations + spirometry
Severity is graded by FEV1
Chest X-RAY
Full blood count

Long term managment of COPD?
A
Patients should have pneumococcal and annual flue vaccines
Short term bronchodilators (beta2 antagonist)

What results will show copd?
A
If someones FEV1/FEVc < 70% it means they have COPD
Also there total lung capacity will be high.
