Neostigmine and Edrophonium

A

Given to prevent the parasympathetic side effects

Remember that the effects of anticholinesterases are not limited to the NMJ

Choice of drug should mimic the suspected onset of actin for the cholinesterase inhibitor it’s being given with

Two main choices (Give… to counteract…):
Atropine = Edrophonium
Glycopyrolate= Neostigmine

Match onset and duration…

You will see PSNS effects from reversal (Anticholinergics counteract this)
