It is correction with love, its teaching and training without inflicting pain

Children are tired, sick and hungry
They are not told when a behaviour is wrong
Jealousy, anger, fear, hurt

Inconsistent discipline
What are the steps to discipline effectively?
- Give love, hugs, kisses, praise
- Listen to children
- Understanding children according to where they are developmentally
- Set limits for children
- Give rewards (not money)
- Promote responsibility and independence
- Discuss emotions
- Set a good example
What are the steps to take when children misbehave?
- Scold
- Remove privileges
- Time out
- Always state reasons
- Always carry through
Why is physical punishment not a healthy way discipline?
Because it increases obedience temporarily and later bullying
It also correlates with theory of mind and increases aggression
What is psychological control?
It is threatening to withdraw love and support so that the child feels guilty
What are the three correlations of psychological control?
- Higher parent control
- Depressed child achievement, creativity and social independence
- Increased relational aggression
