A

Dispute over the Ohio country
The English move first: in 1747 the Ohio Company obtained a land grant from the king to sell land in the Ohio country
The French Counter: by building a series of forts to keep the English out
In response to this: England’s Governor sends George Washington to tell the French they are trespassing
In response: the French attacked George Washington at fort Necessity-war begins

A

The British pass the proclamation of 1763 - no settlement west of the Appalachian mountains
-angered colonists because it denied them the fruits of their labor
King George III decides to leave a standing army in America - for the colonists this was a royal conspiracy to tyrannize their rights as Englishmen

VIRGINIA- assembly passed Virginia Resolves; stating ONLY the Virginia assembly had the right to tax Virginians
Boston— mobilizes a group of protestors-Sons of Liberty who used violence and intimidation to avoid the tax
New York: The Stamp Act Congress- Congress peaceably petitions Parliament for a redress
