guidelines for issuing water
- no water should be issued in the first 24 hours except to the sick and injured
- every person requires a minimum of half a litre (500 mls) per day to prevent dehydration
- water should be issued in three parts - sunrise, midday, and sunset
- drinking water should be taken slowly, holding the water in the mouth and swilling before swallowing

- No food issued in the first 24 hours except to the sick and injured
- daily ration for the first 3 days 125 grams
- food should be issued once or twice a day
Describe what the HELP position is
- Holding inner sides of the arms tightly to the sides of the chest
- raising the thighs to close off the groin region

If several survivors are in the water together, their survival is enhanced if they form a ring facing towards the centre and link their arms together
Describe the guidlines for disposing of the dead in a ground survival situation
- Dead bodies should be buried away from the survival camp
