1. always land on a runway
2. final speed should be controlled to a minimum
3. landing with an uncontrolled engine fire, stop into wind or position the fire on the downwind side
4. if the aircraft is on fire, or has suffered major damage, it must be stopped on the runway rather than exiting onto a taxiway
5. Forced landings should be made with the landing gear down irrespective of the surface conditions
