Q
Pilot considerations during emergency landing preparation
A
- always land on a runway
- final speed should be controlled to a minimum
- landing with an uncontrolled engine fire, stop into wind or position the fire on the downwind side
- if the aircraft is on fire, or has suffered major damage, it must be stopped on the runway rather than exiting onto a taxiway
- Forced landings should be made with the landing gear down irrespective of the surface conditions
