Definition of emergency
An emergency is a situation in which an aircraft and/or its occupants are subject to grave and imminent danger. Emergencies are time critical events requiring prompt, coordinated action by all crew members.
eg: cabin fire, rapid depressurisation
Definition of unlawful interference
A situation in which the danger is posed by one or more people wishing to sabotage or interfere with the aircraft or its occupants or cargo.
eg: hijack, bomb threat
Definition of non-normal
A situation that may prevent the aircraft from being operated in the usual manner due to a system failure or other unusual event. May not be obvious to people in the cabin.
eg: gradual depressurisation, rejected take-off, spillage or leakage of dangerous goods.
Four Landing Types
- Normal landing
- Non normal landing
- Forced landing
- Ditching
Forced Landing
The unavoidable landing of an aircraft on the ground
Ditching
The unavoidable landing of an aircraft on the water
Two Evacuation Types
- Prepared
- Unprepared
Unprepared Evacuation
There is no time to perform the cabin preparation procedure before initiating a passenger evacuation.
Prepared Evacuation
There is sufficient time to perform the cabind preparation procedure before initiating a passenger evacuation.
