If advice is not available via Alliance Airlines, who is responsible for classifying the threat?
In Flight - The captain until he/she can contact OCC
Initial Assessment Team will declare the bomb threat as either:
- Genuine
- Hoax
Are passengers and personal items allowed to remain on board the aircraft during a search?

If an article arousing suspicion is found what should you do?
No attempt must be made to move, touch or open it.
Leave it alone.
Evacuate the area.
Leave it trained authority.
What information should the cabin crew provide when they advise the captain of a suspicious article?

What are the pilot’s procedures in flight?
- It may be necessary to descend and depressurise the aircraft
- Decide to continue to the destination, return to departure airport or divert
- Must advise the OCC of the decision - they will advise the Initial Assessment Team.
- Contact the Cabin Manager and brief them accordingly
- MAke the following PA
“Ladies and gentlemen. This is the Captain speaking. We are returning to ……………. for operational reasons and we will give you further details immediately after landing.”

- follow hijacker’s instructions
- contact the flight deck
- attempt to keep the hijacker out of the flight deck
- establish whether the hijacker has a weapon
what is the international coded phrase when an aircraft has been hijacked
Captain I must come to the flight deck immediately
15 guidlines during custodial stage
- stay calm
- establish crew chain of command
- retain passive control
- slow everything down
- be cautious about what you hear
- dont assume the hijacker is acting alone
- be responsive in a regulated tone
- avoid political, moral or ethical discussions
- do not argue with the hijacker
- relieve the hijacker’s anxiety
- discourage the use of mobile phones
- be aware of the Stokholm Syndrome
- No alcohol
- maintain hygiene
- try to land as soon as possible
