What procedures will pilots follow if a dangerous goods item is detected in the cabin?
- Identify item in dangerous goods response book
- advis cabin crew of the best method to handle the DG item
- PA announcement to alert passengers
- Keep flight deck door closed
- mainatain maximum air flow
- lower cabin temperature
- complete the appropriate smoke/toxic fumes removal procedure
- Contact OCC

What information would the pilots expect to recieve in the initial contact to the flight deck?
Communicator/Assist must provide the following information using the interphone:
1. dangerous goods item and UN identification number
2. Location
3. Extent of spillage
4. Are smoke/fumes present?
5. If so, the colour, density, smell of smoke /fumes
What information would the pilots expect to receive in the follow up call to the flight deck?
- Status of the situation
- effect on passnegers and cabin crew
What information will cabin crew communicate to the flight deck in relation to smoke/fumes and odours in the cabin during flight?
- Nature and intensity of fumes
- any visible signs such as haze or mist
- location in the cabin
- phase of flight when the odour first occured
- effects on passengers and crew
Pilot Incapacitation
- Slide the seat fully back
- move the legs away from rudder pedals
- maintain a clear airway
- cross the arms across chest under shoulder harness
- lock and tighten seat harness
- administer 100% oxygen
- Ascertain if there are any Alliance Pilots to assist. CM must make PA requesting DR, Nurse or Paramedic.
