What are demonstrative pronouns?
A
Demonstrative pronouns point to nouns they are replacing. There are only two demonstrative pronouns and they are this and that. Their plural forms are these and those.

We use this and these to refer to people,things or places that are nearby in space or time. Eg: This is my friend beside me. These are my drawings in front of us. This is going to be a fun party. These are fascinating times.

We use that and those to refer to people, animals,things or places that are further away in space or time. Eg: That is my friend sitting over there. Those are my drawings on the wall. That was a terrific party Those were fascinating times.

Demonstrative pronouns used as adjectives?
A
Demonstrative pronouns are also used as adjectives to modify nouns by specifying which of the many people, animals, things or places are being talked about.
This tree provides a lot of shade
That tree has barely any foliage
These cities have beautiful parks
Those cities have missed out on proper planning.
