What are tenses?
Tenses means time. The tense of a verb tells us when an action occurs. There are 3 different tenses: past, present and future.
How does the past tense work?
Past Tense- The past tense of a verb refers to an action that has already taken place. Usually they end in ed or d. Eg: ‘Michael workED for the government.’ When the past tense of a verb uses was or were add the suffix ing. It shows an action that was interrupted or occurred over a long period of time. Eg: ‘I was watching soccer but my sister changed the channel.’ ‘My stomach was rumbling all day yesterday.’
How does present tense work?
Present Tense- The present tense of a verb refers to a verb currently taking place. ‘Eg: Michael WORKS for the department of defence.
How does future tense work?
Future Tense- The future tense of a verb often refers to something that will occur in the future. The future tense of a verb often uses will or shall. Eg: Michael will work for the department of animals.
