What are nouns?
A
Nouns are naming words:
- People
- Places
- Objects
- Animals
- Feelings
- Ideas
They are either single or groups of words for example: cat or Southern Hemisphere.

What are the 5 types of nouns and what do they do?
A
- Common Nouns- Identify a type or kind of people, animals, places or objects. Eg: teacher, cat, beach.
- Proper Nouns- Name particular people, places or things and Always begin with capital letters. Eg: Niamh or Geraldton
- Collective Nouns- Name groups of people, animals or things. Eg: Flock of sheep or swarm of bees.
- Concrete Nouns- Name any real person, place or thing that you can detect with your senses. Eg: Soap, elbow and sand.
- Abstract Nouns- Intangible ideas, feelings or qualities that cant be detected by the senses. Eg: Fear, jealously, sadness

Common noun: bank, king, day, city
Proper noun: Commonwealth Bank, Henry V11, TUESDAY,Tokyo
Melanie was chased by a SWARM of bees.
There goes a PARLIAMENT of owls.
