Chapter 10-Adverbs Flashcards

1
Q

What are adverbs?

A

Adverbs add something to the verb. They modify the verb in some way. They create more meaning about the word by telling us extra information.
Eg: ‘The teacher ANGRILY explained the rules of his class to the students.’
The verb ‘explained’ is modified by the presence of the adverb, angrily.

Adverbs can also give us extra information about adjectives.
Eg: ‘Warren is VERY tall.’
The adverb very modifies the adjective tall.
