Chapter 7 Learning Flashcards
Classical Conditioning
Associating two stimuli
Ex: thunder and lighting
Ivan Pavlov Dog Study
Measured salvation in dogs in response to bell ringing as an example of classic conditioning
Unconditioned Stimulus
Naturally triggers an automatic response
Ex: food
Nuetral Stimulus
No trigger normally
Ex: bell
Conditioned Stimulus
Nuetral stimuls with paired unconditioned stimulus resulting in a riggered response
ex: bell+food
Conditioned Response
Learned response to a previously nuetral stimlusus paired with a unconditioned stim (ex: bell+food=salvation)
Acquisition
When nuetral stim associated with uncond. so long tt it becomes conditioned response
Extinction
diminishing of conditioned response
Spontaneous Recovery
Reappearance of weakened conditioned response
Generalization
tendency to respond to a similar stimuli (like a bell that sounds like the dinner bell)
Stim. Discrimination
Ability to dist. bet to diff stim
Phobia Treatment
exposure to fear through desensitizing
Puzzelbox Video
If action brings a reward, it becomes stamped into our minds
Law of Effect
If behavior is rewarded is occurs more frequently
Skinner Box
Reward and Punishment pushing the bar to get the pellet of food. Diff levels of behavior based on the pattern
