National Response Framework - Guide to federal government’s emergency response. Describes specific authorites and best practices for various emergencys. Coordinates nongovernmental organizations response.
What is FEMA?
Federal Emergency Management Agency - Part of DHS coordinate responses when local resources are overwhelmed.
What is the SNS?
Strategic National Stockpile - Suuply of stockpiled medications that can be distributed during an emergency. Contains enough meds for people in several large cities.
What is EPAP?
Emergency Prescription Assisstance Program - Supplies prescriptions to patients in federal disaster areas. Supplies 30 days at a time. Pharmacies can enroll before or during and emergency.
What is DMAT?
Disaster Medical Assistance Teams - Team of healthcare professionals sent by fema to provide medical care for people affected by disaster.
What is Healthcare ready?
Ensures access to medications in the case of a supply-chain breakdown. Reports which pharmacies are open in disaster areas.
What is the Role of the NABP during emergencies?
To create model rules for health emergencies to enable pharmacist to provide assistance.
