Aristocrats are nobles who is wealth came from the land they owned.

What are pictographs?
Characters that stand for objects. For example, the Chinese character from mountain, the son, and the moon are pictographs.
What are ideographs?
Another kind of character used in Chinese writing. They join two or more pictographs to represent an idea.
What was the role of Shang warlords?
Shane kings chose warlords to govern the kingdoms territories. Warlords are military leaders who command their own armies.
What are Shang artist best known for?
Works of bronze. Shang bronze objects included sculptures, vases, drinking cups, and containers called urns.

Wu Wang was an aristocrat who led a rebellion against the Shang in 1045 BC. After defeating the Shang, who began a new dynasty called the Zhou.

Bureaucracy is a form of government made up of appointed officials who are responsible for different areas of the government.

According to the Zhou rulers, a heavenly law gave the Zhou kings the power to rule. This mandate, or formal order was called the Mandate of Heaven.
