A disease caused by pathogens.
Give an example of a type of disease caused by malnutrition.

What is ‘droplet infection’?

Why do industrial laboratories use 35°C instead of 25°C as in schools?
The bacteria will multiply at a faster rate at the higher temperature, speeding up the industrial process.
How do you make sure that unwanted microorganisms do not contaminate a pure culture of bacteria?
Heat / sterilise the equipment, boil solutions, cover Petri dishes or flasks.
If a bacterium has a mean division time of 20 minutes, how many bacteria would there be after 3 hours, starting with 1 bacterium?
256.
Why did it take a long time for other doctors to accept the ideas of Semmelweis?
No one knew about bacteria and viruses.
Why is it not possible to vaccinate plants?
Plants do not have an immune system.
How can doctors prevent measles?
By vaccination.
What causes a plant with TMV to die?
The leaf cells are destroyed so they cannot photosynthesise.
