The Prohibition of Alcohol
- Alcohol Consumption was a common vice among Arabs especially during The Preislamic Era
- Some narrations indicate that when Muslims were camped outside The Fortress of Banu Nadir, The Verse announcing the formal ban on Intoxicants was revealed
- God in his infinite wisdom introduced the prohibition of Intoxicants in stages :-
STAGE 1 : MAKKAH
” And from the fruits of palm trees and grapevines you derive intoxicants as well as wholesome provision. Surely in this is a sign for those who ponder. “
Al Quran [ 16 : 67 ]
STAGE 2 : EARLY MADINAH
” They ask you about Intoxicants and games of chance [ Gambling, etc ], Say ‘ In both of them there is a great sin and [ Some ] profit for men and their sin is greater than their profit. ‘ And they ask you as to what they should spend. Say ‘ Whatever can be spared. ‘ Thus does Allah make clear to you the signs that you may ponder. About this world and the hereafter. And they ask you concerning the orphans. Say ‘ To set right for them [ Their Affairs ] is good and if you mingle with them, they are your brethren and Allah knows the Mischief Maker from the Well Doer and if Allah had willed, He would certainly have made it hard for you, Surely Allah is Mighty, Wise. ‘ “

STAGE 3 : IN 3 AH IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE BATTLE OF UHUD
” O you who believe ! Do not go near prayer when you are Intoxicated until you know [ Well ] what you say nor when you are in a state of Major Ritual Impurity unless [ You Are ] travelling on the road until you have washed yourselves and if you are sick or on a journey or one of you come from the Privy or you have touched the Women and you cannot find water, betake yourselves to Clean Earth then wipe a prt of your faces and your hands, Surely Allah is Pardoning, Forgiving. “

STAGE 4 : DURING THE SIEGE OF BANU NADIR’S FORTRESS
” O Believers ! Intoxicants, Gambling, Idols, and Drawing Lots for Decisions are all evil of Satan’s Handiwork. So shun them so you may be successful. “

The Passing of Fatima Bint Asad
- Regarding The Status of Fatima Bint Asad :-
” She was among the first woman who emigrated from Makkah to Madinah on Foot. She was the most Righteous and Kind to The Prophet. “
Imam Jafar Al Sadiq [ 6th Imam ]
- The Passing of Fatimah Bint Asad :-
” One day The Prophet was sitting in The Masjid in Madinah. Imam Ali rushes to The Prophet and was weeping profusely. The Prophet looked and Imam Ali and asked what happened. Imam Ali tells The Prophet that his mother Fatimah Bint Asad has passed away. The Prophet replied ‘ O Ali, it is not only your mother who has passed away, she was my mother as well. ‘ The Prophet then immediately stood up to go and see her dead body. The moment The Prophet saw her, The Prophet started weeping. The Prophet then ordered the weeping women to do Ghusl on her and then said ‘ Once you are done, do not do anything else until you consult me. ‘ Once the women did Ghusl on Fatimah, The Prophet gave one of his cloaks to the women and said to her ‘ Shroud her [ Fatimah Bint Asad ] with one of my cloaks. ‘ Then The Prophet said to The Other Muslims ‘ If you see me doing something that is strange or something that I have never done before during A Funeral, Ask me about it. ‘ Once the women prepared her for burial, The Prophet carried her body on his shoulders and carried her all the way until he himself deposited the body into the grave Once Fatimah Bint Asad was lowered into the grave, The Prophet went into the grave and laid down beside her for a long time whispering ‘ Your Son, Your Son ‘ into her ears. After a while, The Prophet came out of the grave and covered the grave with dirt. The Prophet then said ‘ There is no God but Allah. I leave this precious trust in your hands. ‘ The Other Muslims then said to The Prophet ‘ O Messenger of God, We saw you doing things that we never saw you do before in a funeral. ‘ The Prophet says ‘ Today I lost the tender love of Abu Talib. This woman would give priority to me over herself and her own children. One day I mentioned that during The Day of Judgement, I mentioned that people would be resurrected naked and she [ Fatimah Bint Asad ] was worried about being exposed during this day, Thus I prayed to Allah that Allah would resurrect her covered during this day. And I mentioned regarding the squeezing of the grave and she [ Fatimah Bint Asad ] was worried about this, Thus I prayed to Allah that Allah would spare her from this. And this is why i shrouded her with my cloak. And i laid beside her in the grave and i was dictating to her when The Angels was asking Her about Her Lord, About Her Messenger and Her Wali [ Her Imam ]. She did not know who Her Wali was [ As she did not live long enough for Ali to be made an Imam ] and that is why i was saying to her ‘ Your Son, Your Son. ‘ “
