What are the 5 types of urinary incontinence?

A
  1. urge incontinence: strong urge to pee which results in urine leaking
    • overactive bladder and obstruction are usually the cause
  2. stress incontinence: stress on the bladder results in urine leaking
    • stress = sneezing, coughing, laughing, etc.
  3. functional incontinence: physically unable to urinate or HCW is unable to assist in time
  4. overflow incontinence: excessive volume results in urine leaking
  5. reflex incontinence: urine leaking at regular intervals; r/t SCI
