1603 - Puritan petition calling for no vestments, no cross, educated ministers etc.
What did the millenary petition lead to?
Hampton court conference.
When and what were the Bancroft’s canons?
1604 - by Bancroft (archbishop). Condemned many parts of the millenary petition. Eg/ wanted to keep clerical dress.

1604 - James listened to puritans demands (millenary petition. Started writing the King James Bible.

Montagu - Arminian.
What evidence do we have that James supported Arminianism?

- Allowed Laud to speak in court debates.
What evidence do we have that Charles supported Arminianism?
- Made Laud Bishop of London.
- Appointed Montagu as Bishop of Chichester and then Royal Chaplain.
- York House Conference 1626.
When and what was the York House Conference?
1626 - Debate at Buckingham’s, which Charles didn’t attend, but Buckingham supported anti-calvinist Laud, so we can assume this was on behalf of the king, or to keep favour with the King.
What was the conspiracy mentality?

- King thought puritans wanted to attack him.
