Scope of practice
A set of regulations and ethical consideration that defined the scope or extent and limits of Emt’s job
Standard of care
And Emt providing care for a specific patient in a specific situation take care of that would be expected to be provided by EMT with similar training when caring for a patient in a similar situation
Expressed consent
Consent given by adults who are legal age and mentally competent to make correct decisions from all patients who are physically and And mentally able to give it. It must be informed consent they must understand the risks associated with the care
Implied consent
Law allows EMTs and healthcare providers To provide treatment to an unconscious patient which maybe physically or mentally incapacitated but needs emergency care. Law states that rational patience would consent sent to treatment if they were conscious
Assault
Placing a person in fear of bodily harm
Battery
Causing bodily harm to or restraining a person
Proxy
Hey person whom the signer of the document names to make healthcare decision in case he is unable to make such decisions for himself
Negligence
Something that should have been done was not done I was done incorrectly even though you had the duty to act
Proximate causation
The concept that the damages to the patient where the result of actions or in actions of the EMT. This means by not providing the standard of care the EMT call time to the patient physically or psychologically
Res ipsa loquitur
This is a financial concept in the legends because it allows a finding of negligence even when there is no specific evidence of negligent act
