Why are major life change stressful?
They take energy to adjust to a new situation or it may threaten your security/self-esteem
what is a catastrophe?
an event that threatens lives and may destroy property
Describe a person who encounters lots of catastrophes
may deal with the psychological effects for years after the event
Examples of catastrophes
natural disasters, crimes, war
What are the everyday, small stressful activities called?
hassles
what is a conflict?
disagreements with family, friends, etc.
