organic brain syndrome
a temporary or permanent dysfunction of brain caused by a disturbance in the physical function of brain tissue
causes of organic brain syndrome
Sudden illness
Traumatic brain injury
Seizure disorders
Drug and alcohol abuse, OD, or withdrawal

functional disorder
a physiological disorder that impairs bodily function when body seems to be structurally normal
ex. schizophrenia, anxiety, depression
symptoms of schizophrenia
Delusions
Hallucinations
Lack of interest in pleasure
Erratic speech
physical symptoms of delirium
Hypertension
Tachycardia
Diaphoresis
Dilated pupils
symptoms of PTSD
HR increases to channel blood to heart, lungs, and brain
Dilated pupils
Systolic BP increases
Senses are sharpened and mental acuity is heightened
Victim may be hypervigilant or display exaggerated startle response to perceived danger
