What makes an allergic reaction an anaphylactic reaction?
A
The reaction is life threatening: airway obstructing, shock, needing epinephrine

What are the two common signs of an allergic reaction?
A
Urticaria (Hives) and angioedema (areas of localized swelling)
Also note pruritis (itching) and tightness

What is EMT treatment for allergic/anaphylactic reactions?
A
Ice- good for itching and pain, remove jewelry, administer epipen, get ALS- they can put in an advanced airway, find out if they have had previous reactions and how bad they got- have they been intubated, rapid treatment is important
