Chapter 16 Lymphatic system Flashcards
List in Order the things that make the alimentary canal
Mouth and Oral cavity with associated structures
Fauces (gullet)
Esophagus
Stomach
Smal intestine
Large intestine
Name the four major layers of the Digestive system, and thier composition
Mucosa ((epithelium, lamina propria, and muscularis mucosae)
Submucosa (thick highly vascularized C.T Proper)
tunica muscularis (smooth muscle tissue, Is C.T. proper in places covered by simple squamous epithelium)
Tunica serosa (tunica adventitia when mesothelium is absent)
Name and state location of the 6 papillae of the toung
Filiform papillae (most numerous, light colored, over most of the dorsum of the tongue)
Conical papillae (resemble filiform but larger, cover mostly the posterior of the toungue)
Fungiform papillae (second most numerous, found amoung the filiform papillae)
Lentiform papillae (similar to filiform but less elevated)
Vallate papillar (resemble large fungiforms and are located on the posterior aspect of the toungue)
Foliate papillae (found on edges of toung near the palatoglossal arches)
When do teath come in and out?
Deciduous teeth by age 2
They begin to fall out and begin to be replaced by parminate teath at age 6
All parmanent teath except the theird molars should have erupted by age 13
3rd mollars could begin to show at 17
State deciduous and permanent teeth formulae.
Permanent: 2( I 2/2 C1/1 P2/2 M3/3) = 30
Deciduous: 2( I 2/2 C1/1 P2/2) = 20
Name the specilized stomach cells and state their function.
Parietal cells (secrete hydrochloric acid)
Principal cells (secrete pepsinogen)
Mucus producing cells (secrete the mucus that protects the stomach wall from autodigestion)
Names and length of the 3 parts of the intestine, and primary function.
- Duodenum: 12 Inches, suspended by mesoduodenum, hydrolysis (recives hepatopancreatic ampulla, and accessory pancreatic duct)
- Jejunum 8 FT, Suspended by mesentery, hydrolysis and absorption (Landmark: Duodenojejunal flexure)
- Ileum 12 F, Suspended by Mesentery absorption (Landmark: Ileal (Ileocecal) valve)
