A means of state education funding that allocates a basic level of funding to all districts.
Foundation Program
A reform that strives to hold schools, teachers, and administrators accountable for student performance, primarily based on standardized test scores.
Outcomes-Based or Performance Based Education
A market-based approach to education improvement that permits parents and students to choose which school the child will attend. (Charter schools and Voucher programs)
School Choice
A public school whose curriculum emphasizes a specialized area, such as science or performing arts, and that is intended to attract a diverse set of students.
Magnet School
An option that permits students to attend a public school of their choice within a designated jurisdictional area. The intent is to increase educational options for all children.
Open Enrollment Program
An alternative public school established by contract with a sponsoring agency, school district, business, or other organization.
Charter School
An arrangement in which the state or school district subsidizes tuition for students to enroll in a school of student/parent choice.
