What does employments rights act involve?

A

The rights and duties of the employee and those of the employer are called the ‘terms’ of the contract. The written statement of employment particularly sets out some of the main terms of the contract. The statement must include: pay, hours of work, holiday entitlement, sick pay arrangements, notice periods and information about disciplinary and grievance procedures.

A

Introduced to try and prevent any sex discrimination in the workplace on wider issues than pay or employment terms. It is designed to protect potential employees from both direct discrimination, such as only advertising a job to males, and indirect discrimination such as traditionally only employing females. 1975

What is the disability discrimination act? When was it passed?

A

States that organisation that employ more than 20 people should employ disabled people as 3% of the workforce. It covers things such as application forms, interview arrangements, proficiency tests, job offers and work-related benefits. In addition to this, it is the employer’s duty to make ‘reasonable adjustments’ to ensure that the disabled employee is not at a disadvantage in the workplace. 1995
