A

Kidney pelvis

A

Aka RENAL (refers to kidneys) pelvis. Collects the urine created as the kidney filters blood

Ureter

A

Tube of smooth muscle that propels urine from the kidneys to the urinary bladder. The urethra is a tube that connects the urinary bladder to an external opening for the removal of fluids from the body

Cystoscopy

A

Cyst = bladder. A procedure that lets a doctor look inside the bladder and the urethra. A thin lighted tube called a cystoscope is used. May require a catheter for a few days after to drain your bladder

A

Nephrolithiasis (lithos means stone). A condition where minerals from urine form calculus (stones) which may grow large enough to block urine flow. Painful or asymptomatic.
