Define play
An activity that is undertaken purely for enjoyment or amusement, there is no other objective

Can learn social ‘rules’ / teamwork/ sharing

Time in which you have no other obligations to work or family and are free to engage in a chosen activity, done for relaxation or enjoyment

Engaged in activities to relax and refresh after the rigours of work or day-to-day life

To refresh the mind and body
To recover from the stresses of work or obligations

Recreation that takes place and uses the natural enviroment
Define Adventurous activity
A form of outdoor recreation that involves a degree of risk and challenge.
Define Adventure education
An adventure activity that is undertaken as part of eduction or school programme with educational objectives.
Define Outdoor eduction
School work or lessons that takes place in the natural environment
Define Perceived risk
The participant believes themselves to be at risk or in form in danger. Linked to the participants experience and skill
Define Actual risk
The situation carries a level of danger regardless of the participants skill or experience.
