chapter 10 Flashcards
Pericardium
Membrane sac around the heart
Atrium
Receiving chambers, receives blood from the veins
Ventricle
Discharging chambers, pumps blood out of the heart into arteries
Pulmonary circulation
Receives blood from the superior Vena cava and sends blood to the longs
Pulmonary circulation side
Right
Systemic circulation
Receives blood from the longs and pumps blood out of the heart through the aorta then out to the body
Systemic circulation side
Left
Right AV valve
Tricuspid valve, three flaps
Left av valve
Bicuspid valve, two flaps
Pulmonary semi lunar valve
Keeps blood from moving back into the right ventricle
Aortic semi lunar valve
Keeps blood from moving back into the left ventricle
Coronary arteries
Branch off the base of the aorta and in circles the heart and supplies blood to the heart muscle
Cardiac veins
Takes the blood from the heart muscle back to the right atrium
Heart attack
Occurs when blockage forms in the coronary arteries, depriving the heart muscle of much needed blood
Artificial pacemaker
Damaged SA node causes heart to skip beats or beat irregularly
Fibrillation
A rapid shuttering of the heart muscle and pumping pressure of blood is very low
Murmurs
Indicates a valve problem, valve is not completely closing allowing blood to seep through
Defibrillator
Shocks heart back into a regular rhythm
Intrinsic conduction system
sa node av node av bundle bundle branches purkinjie fibers
