What is a Foreign Object?
Something that’s in the body but doesn’t belong there.
Foreign Objects may be inserted into?
The body accidentally (such as splinter or thorn under the skin) or intentionally (such as marble placed in a child’s nose) Objects can get stuck in the esophagus.
A small foreign object can usually be removed safely from?
Ears, eyes, nose and under the skin as long as it can be seen easily.
If a benign object is in the gastrointestinal tract?
it may be allowed to pass in the stool, other cases an endoscope is used to remove the object.
An esophagoscopy can be used in cases where?
An object is logged in the esophagus (such as a piece of food).
What does an Esophagoscope involves?
Inserting a small scope in order to view and remove the object.
