What is a Concussion is?
A mild traumatic brain injury (mild TBI) that can occur with a direct blow to the head or an indirect blow to the body that impacts the head.
Who have a greater risk for Concussion?
People who engage in contact sports.
The signs and symptoms of a Concussion are always obvious?
No.
What are the first 3 red flags that a Concussion has occurred?
Headache or pressure in the head, Confusion or disorientation, and Vomiting.
What are the last 2 red flags that a Concussion has occurred?
Amnesia of the moments surrounding the injury and Loss of consciousness, even for a few second.
Why is important to recognize the signs and symptoms of a Concussion?
To be referred to a trained concussion expert.
What does an untreated Concussion can result in?
Longterm consequences such as memory impairment, communication difficulties, personality changes and depression.
