credential to practice in a particular state. Specialist-level is typical, but there are
also some Doctoral-level programs.
NASP
-NASP (governing body)
-allows to practice in different states
Data-Driven Problem Solvers
An approach to practicing school psychology that is grounded in the logic of the problem-solving model.
Data-Driven Problem Solvers (Phase 1)
Clearly identifying the undesirable situation (the problem)
Data-Driven Problem Solvers (Phase 2)
Analyzing the conditions that cause or maintain the problem (think why?)
Data-Driven Problem Solvers (Phase 3)
Developing plans to change the conditions that might remedy the problem (if it doesn’t work make new plans)
Data-Driven Problem Solvers (Phase 4)
Implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of these plans
Four sequential phases
take place when intervention is NEEDED
Evidence-based practice (EBP)
evidenced-based practice (EBP) is applying or translating research findings in our daily patient care practices and clinical decision-making. EBP also involves integrating the best available evidence with clinical knowledge and expertise, while considering patients’ unique needs and personal preferences.
Response to Intervention (RTI)
Response to Intervention (RtI) is an approach that schools use to help all students, including struggling learners.
Multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS)
a multi-tiered system of support is “a comprehensive continuum of evidence-based, systemic practices to support a rapid response to students’ needs, with regular observation to facilitate data-based instructional decision making.
Evidence-based practice (EBP)
-sometimes known as EBI
-don’t group kids, look at them as individuals
Response to Intervention (RTI)
-collect data…..LOTS
