CH6-IP Addressing Flashcards
An address type used in IPv6 to allow a one to many relationship between source and destination
Anycast address - packet delivered to only one destination
The bounds of a network that defines which devices must receive a packet that’s broadcast by any other device
Broadcast domain - scope to which broadcast frames are sent. Routers delimit.
A method of IP addressing where the network and host ID’s are determined by a prefix number that specifies how many bits belong to the network ID.
CIDR (Classless interdomain routing) -
An auto configured IPv6 host address that uses the MAC address of a host + 16 additional bits
EUI-64 (Extended unique Identifier) Interface ID
An automatic tunneling protocol used to transmit IPv6 packets between dual IP layer hosts across an IPv4 network
ISATAP (Intra-site automatic tunnel addressing protocol)
A value used to express how many bits of an IP address are network ID bits
IP prefix - /xx format
An address that refers back to the local computer
Loopback address - 127 and IP6 is ::1. Tests TCP/IP functionality
A value assigned to the gateway based on the speed of the interface used to access the gateway
Metric - how “far away” the destination network is
A network communication in which a packet is addressed so that more than one can receive it
Multicasting
32 bit of 1’s for Network IDand 0’s for host ID
Subnet mask
An IP address that can be used to communicate only on the local subnet
Link-local address - can’t go to other networks
