Resolves and IP to a MAC address
ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) - Internetwork protocol using a broadcast frame containing the targets host IP and host returns MAC address
Type of address that is automatically assigned when no DHCP server can be contacted
APIPA (Automatic Private IP addressing) - private range of IP addresses
Unit of information used by UDP in the transport layer
Datagram - passed up to application layer as data/ passed down as packet to internetwork layer
Resolves computer names to IP addresses
DNS (Domain name system) - UDP port 53 in Application layer
dynamically assigns IP addresses
DHCP (Dynamic host configuration protocol) - UDP port 67, 68 in Application layer
Specifies the source or destination Application layer protocol
Port number - field in Transport layer
An extension to the IP working at the Internetwork layer that provides security by using authentication and encryption

Unsecure Application layer protocol used to connect a device across a network via Command line interface
Telnet - tcp port 23
Transport layer protocol that is connectionless
UDP (User datagram protocol) - small amounts of data
