CH2-Network Hardware Flashcards
Device that uses MAC addresses to determine the switch port destination of a frame
Switch - network device
routing table entry that tells a router where to send a packet with a destination network address that can’t be found in the routing table
default route -
Communication in which a device can send and receive signals but not at the same time
Half duplex mode - hubs operate in half only switches can operate in both
Device that connects LAN’s
Router - forwards packets from one LAN to another and through multiple routers
How devices connected to a hub use bandwidth one trans at a time
Bandwidth sharing -
Device that only regenerates incoming signals and repeats them to other parts of the network
Repeater -
Indicates that the wireless computer can transmit data
CTS (clear to send) - AP sends after an RTS is sent
A device that connects and mediates the computer with the network medium
NIC (network interface card) -
Designated port on a hub or switch used to connect to another hub or switch
Uplink port - uses a crossover cable
Amount of data that can be transferred on a network in a specific interval
Network Bandwidth - bits per second
