- The Preposition has a Daghesh in the Taw and has a Hireq under the initial consonant
- The Preposition means “with” and has a Hireq under intial consonant with represents the ‘i’ in “with”
(The object marker has a Holem after the first consonant, except for 2 mp/fp where it has a Seghol; the Holem stands for object marker)
How can עִם be differentiated from עַם when it takes a suffix? (with and people)
- עִם will take an initial Hireq throughout
- עַם will take an initial Pathach throughout
Both take a Daghesh in the מ when pronominal suffixes are added.
What is a resumptive pronoun?
- A pronoun within the relative clause that refers back to the noun that the relative clause modifies.
- They appear as a suffix added onto a preposition (at least in the examples)
(Although resumptive pronouns are common in Hebrew, it is best to omit them in English translation.)
