Choosing one sound over the others to listen to.

What are the three components of the listening process?
Affective, Cognitive, and Behavioral.
Define behavioral component of listening
Showing a person you understand and remember the information being communicated.
Define responding
Generating feedback or reactions to convey understanding
Define listening fidelity
The match of our thoughts and another person’s thoughts and intentions through communication.
Define empathetic listening
When you try to feel the feelings the communicator is expressing.
Define paraphrasing
Trying to restated what you have just heard communicated by guessing at what they have been trying to communicate.
Define listening barriers
Factors that interfere with our ability to comprehend information and respond appropriately.
