  • replacement for primary adrenal insufficiency in Addison’s disease
  • has 20X more salt retaining potency than anti-inflammatory potency
  • low potency; short acting
  • add to chronic adrenal insufficiency morning dose if hyperkalemia with treatment
  • salt wasting congenital hyperplasia
