Ch 15 Flashcards
Autonomic NS
Motor Pathway- Cranial and Sympathetic nerves
Neurotransmitters- ACh, NeuroEphenephrene(NE)
Effectors- Viscera regulation
Motor output control- cranial nerve, sympathetics, and brain stem
Sensory- Visceral Sensory nerves
Somatic NS
Motor Pathways- Descending tracts in spinal cord
Neurotransmitters- ACh
Effectors- Skeletal Muscle
Motor Output Control- Primary motor cortex, basal nuclei, cerebellum
Sensory- Peripheral NS to primary sensory cortex and cerebellum
Preganglionic- myelinated neuron that comes before ganglion
myelinated neuron that comes before ganglion
Postganglionic-
neuron that is excited and exits ganglion to release neurotransmitter to effectors
Craniosacral Division
Alternative name for Parasympathetic Division, due to cranial nerves originating in the cranial and sacral regions of nervous system.
Occulomotor- lll
Facial- Vlll
Glossopharyngeal- IX
Vagus X
Parasympathetic Division
Responsible for the body’s rest and digestion when the body is relaxed, resting, or feeding
What is happening at parasympathetic and sympathetic ganglia
[Thoracolumbar Division] of Autonomic Nervous System]
The anatomical term for the sympathetic division of the autonomic nervous system?
