Is a milder form of depression that usually has an early onset, such as in adolescence or childhood and last for 2 yrs in length…. It lasts 1 yr in length for adults.

What is MDD
Is a single episode or recurrent episode of unipolar depression resulting in a significant change in a clients normal functioning accompanied by at least 5 criteria which must occur everyday for a minimum of 2 weeks and last most of the day
What is premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD)
A depressive disorder assoc with the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle.
What are primary manifestations of PMDD
Emotional lability and persistent severe anger and irritability
Other manifestations include anergia, overeating and difficulty concentrating.
What is the acute phase of depression
Severe clinical findings of depression
What is treatment for the acute phase of depression
Treatment is generally 6–2 weeks in duration
Potential need for hospitalization
What is the continuing phase of depression
Increased ability to function

Treatment Is generally 9-12 months
Relapse prevention thru education, meds, and psychotherapy
