Central And Peripheral Myorelaxants Flashcards
1
Q
Central myorelaxants: List
A
CNS depressants => decrease motor activity of voluntary movments without loosing conciousnss, can potentiate anesthetics
- Guaiphenesin - spinal blocking agent (polysynaptic)
Anti convolutions from strychnine+ tetanus, expecorant. Can cause hemolysis - Baclophen- GABA-B agonist (k) , inhibits neural function, large TI
- Carisoprodol- potentiate opiods, muscle spasm analgestic, does not work in strychnine poisoning
- Meyhocarbamol- SC , reduces muscle hyperactivity
2
Q
Peripheral muscle relaxants: Depolarizing agents
A
Neuromascular blocking agent, NO ANALGESIA
*Used in anesthesia, intubation spasic disorders
- succhnylcholie (suxamethonium): act like Ach- depolarized (but cannot fire again) - bradycardia, hyperkalemia, inc. IO pressure, anaphylaxis , inc. BP, potentiated by neostigmine and organophosphates (ACH-E inhibitors), histamine release
3
Q
Peripheral muscle relaxants: non-depolarizing agents
A
Competitive NM blocking:
Long acting: d-tubeocuraine (H release), Gallamine (no H), pancuronium
Benzylisoquinolines:
- ATRACURIUM (intermediate, safe for kidneys+ liver, bradycardia, ),
- Cisatracurium (immediate , intermediate) ,
- Mivacurium (short)
Amino steriods:
- Rocuronium (succhnylcholine alternative, anaphylaxis, no CV+H symp)
- Vecuronium (intermediate , CB stable, causes mydriasis in birds)
