Cellular Division: Mitosis Flashcards
1
Q
What occurs during Interphase?
A
- General life processes
- Chromatin is in loose threads
- Centrioles outside nucleus
2
Q
What occurs during Prophase?
A
- Chromatin coils up into chromosomes which forms into chromatids
- Centrioles form spindle apparutus
- Nuclear envelope dissolves
3
Q
What occurs during Metaphase?
A
- Spindle apparutus moves to the nucleus
- Chromosomes align at centre of spindle
- Chromosomes attach by centrometres
4
Q
What occurs during Anaphase?
A
- Sister chromatid pairs separate to form 2 chromosomes
- Spindle pulls on chromosomes seperating them
5
Q
What occurs during Telophase?
A
- Spindle dissolves
- Chromosomes uncoil and become a network again
- Nucleolus and nuclear envelope reappear
5
Q
What occurs during Cytokinesis
A
- Cytoplasm divides
- Membrane splits
