Cells Flashcards
Chondrocytes
These are cells for cartilage formation
Mesenchymal stem cells
These are multipotent stem cells found in the bone marrow used for repairing skeletal tissue such as bone, cartilage, fat around the bone.
Multipotent Stem Cells
These are stem cells that can differentiate into all cell types within a particular lineage.
Articular Chondrocytes
These cells are important for the development and maintenance of the ECM.
COS 1 cells
These are cells from the CV-1 cell line that has the SV40 T antigen.
T-47D cells
These are epithelial cells obtained from pleurel effusion of a 54 year old female with infiltrating ductal carcinoma of the breast.
Huh-7 cells
This is a permanent cell line derived from male hepatoma tissue (liver tissue).
NCI-N87 Human Gastric Carcinoma Cells
This is a stomach well differentiated cell line from a liver metastasis patient just prior to cytotoxic therapy.
MEFs
Mouse Embryonic Fibroblasts
TC28 cells
This is a widely used model cell line used to study normal and pathological cartilage repair mechanisms related to chondrocyte biology and physiology.
Pericytes
These are cells that are found at intervals in capillaries. In the CNS they are important for blood vessel formation, maintenance of the blood-brain barrier, regulation of immune cell entry into the CNS, and control of brain blood flow.
Mesangial Cells
These are contractile cells that constitute the central stalk of the glomerulus.
Alpha SMA Cells
These cells are a marker for a subset of activated fibrogenic cells, myofibroblasts.
Astrocyte
This is a star shaped glial cell of the central nervous system.
Osteocyte
This is a mature bone cell
