Cell Test Flashcards
Prophase
BEFORE**
nucleus membrane breaks down, spindle fibers form, chromosomes thicken
Metaphase
MIDDLE***
chromosomes line up at the equator; shortest phase of mitosis
Anaphase
AWAY**
chromosomes migrate to poles, movement stops anaphase is over, nuclear membrane absent, twice as many chromosomes
Telophase
END**
prophase in reverse, nuclear membrane forms, spindle fibers dissipate, cytokinesis occurs (cytoplasm dividing)
Interphase
DNA replication
Hypotonic
plump, water rushes into them
Isotonic
cause no visible change, same tonicity
Hypertonic
shrinkage(crenate), high concentrated water inside the cell rather than outside
Tonicity
ability of a solution to change the size and shape of cells by altering the amount of water they contain
