Q

What is osmosis?

A

Osmosis is the diffusion of water from a higher concentration solution of water (dilute) to a lower concentration of water solution through a partially permeable membrane.

Q

What is the difference between dilute solutions and concentrated solutions?

A

A dilute solution contains a high concentration of water whereas a concentrated solution contains a low concentration of water. (in osmosis water diffuses from a dilute solution to a concentrated solution, aka an area of high to an area of low)

Q

What is active transport?

A

Active transport moves particles from a lower concentration (more dilute) to a more concentrated solution (against the concentration gradient)
