Cell Anatomy Flashcards
What is the function of the nucleus?
-controls all activity of the cell
-The nucleus stores DNA info.
What is the function of microfilaments?
They form the cytoskeleton.
What is the function of microtubules?
Microtubules transport material in the cytoplasm, uses specialized organelle.
What is the function of ribosomes?
Ribosomes make protein for the cell.
What is the function of mitochondria?
Mitochondria produces energy for the cell.
What is the function of smooth ER
(Endoplasmic Reticulum)?
Smooth ER makes, stores, and transports fats.
What is the function of rough ER
(Endoplasmic Reticulum)?
Rough ER makes, stores, and transports protein.
What is the function of golgi complex?
Golgi complex modifies, and deals with big proteins.
What is the function of lysosomes?
Lysosomes are in charge of intracellular digestion, and destroys foreign invaders. They contain enzymes.
What is the function of vacuole?
Vacuole stores water and food waste. It’s is used to remove waste.
What is the function of centrosomes?
Divisions in animals cells. (Mitosis and meiosis)
What is the function of plasma membrane?
Plasma membrane is the boundary for the cell and neighbouring cells.
What is the function of the cell wall?
Cell wall supports and protects the cell.
What is the function of chloroplast (plant cells only)
Chloroplast contains chlorophyll, contributes to photosynthesis.
