cell Flashcards
who discovered the cell and how
robert hooke discovered the cell. he was observing slices of cork under his self designed microscope called crude microscope. cork is a part of the bark of a tree. he saw tiny things and he named them cell
cell consists of how many parts name them
- cell membrane
- cytoplasm
- nucleus
cell membrane or plasma membrane
a) it is a thin delicate membrane which is a thin layer of every cell.
b) it allows entry and exit of only selected substances and is called SELECTIVELY PERMEABLE MEMBRANE.
c) it protects the cell from possible injuries and is called CELL WALL
cytoplasm
between cell membrane and nucleous a jelly-like fluid substance is called cytoplasm. all the chemical reactions happen here
nucleous
it is a central spherical structure which is the most important part of a living cell. it controls the genes that parents give to their offsprings
plant and animal cell
plants- larger cell, has cell wall, has plastids
plant- smaller cells, no cell wall and doesnt have plastids
prokaryotic cells
which do not have a well organised nucleus due to the absence of nuclear membrane. the organisms with this cell are called prokaryotes.
eukaryotic cells
the cell which have a well organised nucleus with nuclear membrane. organisms with these cells are called eukaryotes
