CBT - Anti Ice and Oxygen Flashcards
What does the PROBE/Window Heat pb do?
Turns on the windows and probe heating before engine is started
Which item does the Wing anti ice system heat?
Slat 4 on both wings
How is ice detected by aircraft and pilots?
The ice detection system has two ice detectors that measure ice accretion.
If these detectors sense icing or severe icing conditions, the information is sent to the anti-ice control system for display to the flight crew.
By pilots visually by using two visual ice detectors on the windshield
Which device monitors and controls the entire aircraft anti ice system?
The anti-ice control system does that has two Anti-Ice Control Units (AICU 1 and AICU 2).
When is wing anti ice inhibited?
During takeoff until thrust reduction
What are the components of emergency oxygen supplied to the cabin?
The fixed oxygen system of the cabin has:
* High-pressure oxygen bottles
* Two regulators with supply valves
* Two supply lines (one for the main deck, and one for the upper deck)
* Masks, and
* An overboard discharge indicator.
What may cause the cabin oxygen shutoff valves to close in flight?
In case of one of the supply lines rupture in the engine burst area, both related shutoff valves will automatically isolate the affected section of the supply line.
Oxygen is still supplied to the masks in the affected section, via interconnected lines from the other supply line.
When do the cabin oxygen masks deploy automatically?
When cabin altitude exceeds 13800 feet
signs come on automatically with an automated PA
What limitations exists with PBE’s?
15 minute time limit
only work below cabin altitude of 25,000
When is the CKPT oxygen pressure boxed in amber?
On ground when the pressure is not enough for 4 or 5 crew members
When is the CABIN oxygen pressure boxed in amber?
When the total pressure is less than that to dispatch the aicraft with max passengers
