19
Q

what is the relationship between exercise intensity and stroke volume

A

SV increases inline with exercise intensity
SV plateaus as exercise intensity continues to rise
At max, SV decreases
max SV is reached during sub maximal intensity

20
Q

cardiovascular drift

A

a decline of SV as we reach max intensity

21
Q

why does cardiovascular drift occur

A

SV increases because venous return increases (more blood returning, moire can leave)
HR continues to increase which doesn’t leave enough time for ventricles to fill completely
Less blood in the ventricles, therefore less ejected per beat
Results in decreased SV.
